This is one of my favorite pieces. It was commissioned by a client who wanted a large, sturdy bed that oozed sexuality.
This piece is massive. The panels are constructed from 1-3/4" Maple boards with Purpleheart inlays. The posts are 5-1/4" diameter solid Purpleheart. The rails connect to the posts with very wide (1'-6" to 2'-6") tenons and are secured with blind through-bolts. The bed weighs around 800 pounds, but can be broken down and moved easily by two people.
The curves are extremely sensual (OK, even suggestive), and beg to be touched. The splayed posts provide an additional racy quality. There is little a description can add to the photo.
(A note on the photographs: I didn't have a backdrop large enough to shoot this piece, so yes, I edited the images, but only to hide the unwanted background.)
